Sift Privacy Policy

This policy describes how Yotam Rozin, developer of Sift ("we", "us"), handles information when you use the Sift app on Android.
What Sift does with your photos
Sift accesses your photo library solely to display photos within the app so you can review them. Photo library access is necessary to provide the core functionality of the app. Your photos are processed entirely on your device. They are never uploaded, transmitted, or stored on any server.
To enable the People & Pets feature, Sift detects faces in your photos and stores face crop images and facial geometry data locally on your device. This data is never transmitted to any server and is deleted when you uninstall the app.
Analytics (optional)
If you choose to opt in, Sift collects anonymous usage data to help us understand how the app is being used. This includes:
- Whether you started or completed a review session
- Which premium features you tapped on
- Which retention week you are in (calculated locally — your install date never leaves your device)
- Whether you used your free weekly session
This data contains no photos, no names, no device identifiers, and no location information. It cannot be used to identify you.
Analytics data is processed on the basis of your consent, which you can withdraw at any time.
Opting out
You can withdraw analytics consent at any time in Settings → Privacy. Withdrawing consent immediately stops all data collection and deletes any locally stored analytics data from your device.
Third parties
Anonymous analytics data is transmitted to and stored on servers operated by Cloudflare, Inc. Cloudflare acts as a data processor on our behalf and does not have access to photo content or any personally identifiable information.
We do not sell, rent, or share your data with any third party for advertising or marketing purposes.
Data retention
Analytics data is stored as aggregate counts only. No individual upload records are retained on our servers. Aggregate data may be retained indefinitely as it cannot be linked to any individual user.
Your rights
Under UK data protection law you have rights including the right to access, correct, or delete personal data we hold about you. Since Glean does not collect personally identifiable information, most of these rights are satisfied by the fact that we hold no data that can be linked to you individually.
For analytics data specifically, withdrawing consent in Settings → Privacy immediately deletes all locally stored data from your device. No analytics data linked to you is retained on our servers.
You also have the right to lodge a complaint with the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO), the UK supervisory authority for data protection, at ico.org.uk.

Age restriction
Sift is intended for users aged 18 and over. We do not knowingly collect any information from anyone under the age of 18. We have enabled Google Play's minor restriction feature to limit access to users Google has determined to be adults.
